Early detection saves lives
The Skin Check Cards educate your employees about the importance of self-checking by guiding them through the “ABCDE” method of melanoma detection. By getting to know their skin, your employees are better prepared to take immediate action should they notice any changes or warning signs of skin cancer. Australia’s leading cancer bodies recommend that employers, under work health and safety responsibilities, focus their attention on the introduction and maintenance of effective sun protection control measures including education and the importance of early detection.
The "ABCDE" Method
Australia has the highest incidence of melanoma in the world. Despite being almost entirely preventable, skin cancer continues to affect at least 2 of every 3 Australians in their lifetime. The "ABCDE" method provide a useful way to monitor your skin and detect the early signs of skin cancer. The majority of skin cancers are detected by people themselves, or their partners and the sooner skin cancer is identified and treated, the better the chance of avoiding surgery, disfigurement or in some cases, death.
